Club Safety Boat Operator 8 hours
A practical on-water training course for operators of yacht club safety boats.
Aim: To increase safety and proficiency of safety boat operators, enabling better safety cover for sailors involved in yacht club activities.
Qualification: Club Safety Boat Operator (Endorsed by Yachting NZ)
Prerequisites: Marine VHF Radio Operators, First Aid recommended. Powerboat L2 recommended for craft powered by 25HP and above.

3. Launching & retrieving
4. Boat handling
5. Mark laying
6. Communication
7. Righting inverted & partially inverted craft

POWERBOATING
(Suitable for Runabouts, Ribs, and other outboard-driven craft).

Powerboating Level One Duration: 1 Day.
Aim: To gain a practical introduction to boat handling and safety.
Qualification: Course completion certificate.
Prerequisites: None.
Modules:
1. Preparation – Launching and recovering – Safety equipment – Pre-start checks - Personal buoyancy
2. Boat handling and manoeuvres – Starting and stopping – Use of kill cord - Steering controls – Securing to a buoy – Leaving and coming alongside - Being towed
3. Theory and background – Rules and regulations – Rope work – Awareness of other water users
Powerboating Level Two Duration: 2 days.
Aim: To achieve all basic Powerboat handling and seamanship skills.
Qualification: Course completion certificate.
Prerequisites: None. Note: Direct assessment option is available.
Modules:
1. Preparation – Launching and recovering – Safety equipment – Lines and fenders - Fuel tanks
2. Boat handling and manoeuvres – Effects of current or tide – High and low speed manoeuvring – Propeller controls – Securing to a buoy – Anchoring - Leaving and coming alongside - Man overboard
3. Theory and background – Types of craft and engine – Maintenance checks - Rules and regulations – Weather forecasts – Emergency action
N Z Underwater Courses
Master of a Small Commercial Dive Boat up to 5 days
Some prior power boating knowledge is required.
The MSCDB is designed to fulfil the training requirements as specified in the Maritime NZ training framework for a person wishing to operate as a master of a vessel of six metres or less for the purpose of transportation and diving activities. A three to five day course depending on your current experience and qualifications.
This program comprises both theory and practical modules which have direct assessment options for prior learning.
Diving Activities Supervisor
The Diving Activities Supervisors (DAS) program is designed to fulfill specific training components for persons wishing to gain certification as a Diving Activities Supervisor on vessels used for recreational and occupational scuba and related diving activities.
